Body Memories, Post Traumatic Stress and Healing: Poetry by Author Honey Badger
In the depths of our minds, lies a silent scream
The echoes of trauma, like a haunting dream
Memories etched in our very bones
A legacy of pain, we carry alone.
Body memories, a cruel reminder
Of battles fought, and souls so tender
Post traumatic stress, a relentless foe
Casting shadows where we dare not go
The body remembers what the mind cannot
Aching muscles, tight and taut
A racing heart, a shallow breath
A never-ending cycle of life and death
Healing seems like a distant shore
A light in the darkness, we implore
To find peace, to find release
From the grip of trauma, from the jaws of beast
But healing is a journey, not a destination
A process of patience, of dedication
To face our demons, to confront our fears
To shed our past, like shedding tears
Therapy and support, a guiding hand
Through the dark forests of our land
Meditation, yoga, mindfulness
Tools to navigate the abyss
Art and music, dance and song
Creative outlets, where we belong
To express the pain, the joy, the hope
To find ourselves, in the kaleidoscope
Of body memories, of post traumatic stress
Of healing wounds, and finding rest
In the embrace of love, in the light of day
We reclaim our bodies, we find our way
So let us be gentle, with ourselves and each other
For we are all sisters, we are all brothers
In the tapestry of life, in the dance of fate
Let us find healing, before it's too late
Let us be kind, let us be true
To ourselves, to each other, to the world we knew
For in the end, we are all connected
By the thread of humanity, by the bond that's perfected
In body memories, in post traumatic stress
In healing wounds, we find our best
A symphony of souls, a chorus of light
Guiding us through the darkest night
So let us remember, that we are strong
That we are resilient, that we belong
In this world, in this life
Together we heal, together we thrive.
